Business League Terms & Conditions
Mission Statement
To build a Club organisation that provides a support network for Business with unrivalled benefits and opportunities for all. To recommend each other, to share knowledge and work in co-operation. To build sustainable growth and uphold standards of excellence whilst networking, will promote Business and friendships.
Membership
Although we realise that a member might well belong to other clubs or organisations, we do discourage the membership of other similar Business networking clubs. We feel that focus within The Business League and its benefit to all our members would be greatly reduced.
The Business League reserves the right to monitor members who belong to other similar networking clubs as to the effect that duel role has on attendance and general wellbeing of The local and regional Business League club. Executive and member views will be taken into account in monitoring conduct of duel members. Action could be taken in this process which could lead to membership expulsion.
We do however feel that membership of The Federation of Small Business is of real benefit to any business as they have a different agenda to our aims.
Eligibility.
Membership is available to any local business, trading full time as a sole trader, partnership or limited company with acceptance of membership, at the discretion of the Executive Officers of The Business League. The member will be the proprietor, owner, partner, director or senior executive of the firm or charity manager. Membership will commence on the first day of a calendar month.
Membership Renewal.
It should be noted that your membership renewal is due on the last day of your previous years membership (i.e.) should your membership start on the 1st June 2006, your renewal is due 1st June 2007. You must reapply for membership before your run out date and normally you will be advised at least 14 days before the end date. Should your membership lapse and your renewal is late without good reason, you will be classed as a new member with new membership number and consequently charged a registration fee to cover administration costs, this on top of your current years renewal fee. Please also note that as a new member in this case all renewal discount vouchers held from the previous year’s membership will become void.
The Business League has the right to change its programme for the benefit of members at any time, by giving one months notice to members.
Restrictions.
Members of The Business League cannot form a similar club whilst being a member. Also they must not form a similar club in competition within six months of leaving the said club. The paper work, web site and workings of the club are subject to copyright and must not be reproduced in any form and to do so could lead to legal action. Members are also not permitted to make comment on the workings or methods of the club, to press or media, or other interested parties, unless with prior consent from the Club Executive. They may however inform of the clubs benefits to perspective new members, with guidance from the ‘Member Toolkit.’ Furthermore you will not try to change the workings of the club or bring your local club or the regional club or any of its members into disrepute of any kind.
Disciplinary Process.
In the event that a member fails to abide by club rules, The Business League reserves the right to terminate membership with no liability to return fees paid. In the first instance, the disciplinary process will be dealt with by the Club Officers. If necessary, the Regional Executive will make a final ruling. This could involve the legal process.
Data Protection Act 1998
It is the club policy to comply with the Data protection Act 1998 therefore all member details and records are confidential, unless with the permission of the member.
Profession / Trade Classification.
Although we have policy of only one organization from each classification that will be granted membership of each club, we aim to be able to mix a small percentage of classifications to work together. Where this is not possible the situation will be solved by consultation with the original member, the club Chairperson and the potential member. It should be noted that the final decision rest between the club Chairperson and the Regional Executive.
Members visiting other clubs in the region
We actively encourage members of The Business League to visit other clubs in the region as regional networking is very much part of our ethos which promotes friendships and contacts. We do ask though that members first book the visit through head office or the Chairperson of the club to be visited. Respect must be given to similar business categories already in the club you are visiting but hope it may lead to building bridges and synergy between those members in the same field of work. We do though ask that members wanting to make this type of visit to other clubs restrict the visit to the same club no more than once or in some cases twice per month. As more visits can confuse the members in situ at the visited club and can lead to over commitment by the visiting member. Should the visits become regular you may be asked to join the visited club. Members must not visit other clubs at the expense of their own club. A visit can be made as well as and not instead of regular attendance of your own local club.
Freezing a Club
The Business League Executive retain the right to ‘Freeze’ a club for any length of time should this deemed to be necessary for the good of the members, the local club or The Business League as a whole.
Liability of Member Service
The Business League does not except responsibility or liability for member services to other members or customers of members.
BREAKFAST MEETINGS.
Number of Breakfast Meetings.
The Business League undertakes to provide weekly breakfast meetings. Members, along with the Executive and club officers will decide the day and venue details. During weeks that include public holidays, these may be rearranged or suspended. Also breakfast meetings can be suspended for various other reasons.
Attendance.
Although The Business League is a RELAXED club, regular attendance of breakfast meetings is a basic commitment of membership as such meetings are essential for members to find success through the club. However, it is recognized that as attendance may not always be possible, a substitute representative may attend in the member’s absence. Members are permitted to register two appointed substitutes who will be welcome to attend. The club secretary should be informed if a member is unable to attend or if a substitute is to take their place. The minimum number of attendances in each year for a member and substitutes is 40 with the member attending at least 35.
Weekly Meeting.
The Business League reserves the right to change the venue, day of the week, start time and duration of breakfast meetings of any club in the region/s. This may be altered by the Executive and club officers if it is considered necessary or advantageous to the club.
